The 28th North Carolina Artillery, based in Virginia, is a living history organization functioning as an independent and integral part of the 28th North Carolina, Company C Infantry. Currently fielding two 12-pounder mountain howitzers, as well as a 12-pounder field howitzer in the works, it is commanded by Lt. David Weaver. The unit has served prestigiously at battle reenactments and in such ceremonies as the historic 50-gun salute for the CSS Hunley.
