J.R. Abernathy, co. D [NCT entry shows co. B] , 28th North Carolina Regiment, S.O. 89; resident of Gaston County; enlisted at age 39, September 3, 1863; transferred to Confederate States Navy, April 3, 1864. [NCT, 8, 126.]

Ira H. Alderman, co. F, 28th North Carolina Regiment, S.O. 89; resident of Alamance County, North Carolina; enlisted, as private, at Forsyth County, October 1, 1862, at age 26; transferred to Confederate States Navy, April 3, 1864; pension records show he was wounded at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. [NCT, 8, 175.]

Allen Barger, co. C, 28th North Carolina Regiment, S.O. 89; resident of Catawba County; enlisted, as private, March 15, 1862, at age 22; captured at Hanover Court House, Virginia, May 27, 1862; confined at Fort Monroe, Virginia, and at Fort Columbus, New York harbor; exchanged at Aiken's Landing, James River, Virginia, August 5, 1862; transferred to Confederate States Navy, April 3, 1864. [NCT, 8, 140.]

Smith W. Dozia [NCT entry shows surname as Dozier] , co. I, 28th North Carolina Regiment, S.O. 89; born in Yadkin County; occupation, farmer, enlisted, as private, at age 19, August 13, 1861; captured at Hanover Court House, Virginia, May 27, 1862; confined at Fort Monroe, Virginia, and at Fort Columbus, New York harbor; paroled and transferred to Aiken's Landing, James River, Virginia, where he was exchanged, August 5, 1862; promoted to corporal, August 29, 1862; transferred to the Confederate States Navy, April 3, 1864. [NCT, 8, 210.]

Hiram A. Miller, co. C, 28th North Carolina Regiment, S.O. 89; resident of Catawba County, North Carolina; enlisted, as private, March 15, 1862; wounded in the hand at Frayser's Farm, Virginia, June 30, 1862; also at Chancellorsville, Virginia, May 2-3, 1863, and Gettysburg, July, 1863, when he was captured; hospitalized at David's Island, New York harbor, July 17-24, 1863; paroled and transferred to City Point, Virginia, where he was exchanged in September, 1863; transferred to the Confederate States Navy, April 3, 1864. William Calvin Parks, co. A, 28th North Carolina Regiment, S.O. 89; resident of Surry County; enlisted at age 32, March 18, 1862; captured at Hanover Court House, Virginia, May 27, 1862; confined at Fort Monroe, Virginia, and at Fort Columbus, New York harbor; exchanged at Aiken's Landing, James River, Virginia, August 5, 1862; wounded in the thigh at Manassas, Virginia, August, 1862; reported as absent without leave during the first quarter of 1863; transferred to the Confederate States Navy, April 3, 1864. [NCT, 8, 121.]

John J. Perkins, co. D [NCT entry shows co. B], 28th North Carolina Regiment, S.O. 89; resident of Gaston County; enlisted July 30, 1861, aged 22, as private; deserted on April 27, 1863; returned to duty on an unspecified date; transferred to the Confederate States Navy, April 3, 1864. [NCT, 8, 135.]

Wyley A. Wyatt, co. D [NCT entry shows co. B], 28th North Carolina Regiment, S.O. 89; resident of Gaston County, North Carolina; enlisted July 30, 1861, aged 21; captured at Hanover Court House, Virginia, May 27, 1862; confined at Fort Monroe, Virginia, and at Fort Columbus, New York harbor; exchanged at Aiken's Landing, James River, Virginia, August 5, 1862; captured at Fredericksburg, Virginia, December 13, 1862; exchanged later that same month; transferred to the Confederate States Navy, April 3, 1864.
