Welcome to the 28th North Carolina. Founded in 1995, our goal is to provide a Christ-centered environment for reenactors and spread the good news of Jesus Christ as we participate in our hobby. Enjoy your visit, and if you've ever thought about a life in the military of yesteryear, contact us. We reenact primarily in the Virginia area, and have both an infantry and artillery contingent..

We are currently fielding two 12-pounder mountain howitzers, and have a 12-pounder field howitzer in the works. Go to our artillery site for more information.
October 20, 2004: Cedar Creek (photos)
Cedar Creek was exceptionally great this year (and exceptionally wet & cold), and I think we all had a great time. Attending this year's event was:
  • Doug Baker
  • Larry Bourckel
  • Jake McKinnon
  • Dave Patterson
  • Bill Surrey
  • Phillip Surrey
  • Caralou Weaver
  • Dave Weaver
  • John Ziegler (fresh fish)
On Saturday's battle, we had the closest spot to the spectators, and assisted in flanking the retreating Yankees. We came into the battle by going through the spectator line, which I think was really impressive, plus the fact the majority of the fightin' was a good way away from the viewing public.

For Sunday morning's tactical, a couple of us fell in with the infantry and were part of the force that was, to be honest, decimated by the Yankee attackers. On Sunday afternoon, the artillery was stationary and again we had infantry with the main body pushing the Federals to the Heater House and being repulsed by the rejuvenated Yankees.

I'm glad you all could make it, and I hope to see you all again soon.

God Bless,
Phillip S.
